  • Lake Barkley Shoreline Management Plan (SMP) Review

    Expiration date: 5/1/2025

    The Lake Barkley Shoreline Management Plan (SMP) Review plan contains policies and guidelines for the effective long-range management of the shoreline resources on Lake Barkley. The primary objective of the SMP is to balance private shoreline uses, such as private boat docks, with the protection and conservation of Lake Barkley’s natural resources. In order to address ever changing public use demands affecting these natural resources, the SMP is reviewed every five years and updated if necessary. During this review process, public workshops will be held to seek the input from users of Lake Barkley. The workshops will begin at 6 p.m. on each of the following dates: • March 25 at Lee S. Jones Park (Lyon Convention Center) in Eddyville, Kentucky • March 27 at Lake Barkley State Resort Park (Sunrise Room) in Cadiz, Kentucky • April 1 at the Stewart County Visitor Center in Dover, Tennessee Written comments will also be accepted for 30 days following the public workshops.   • Draft environmental assessment, Section 340 Town of Alderson water system rehabilitation project, Summers County, West Virginia

    The Town of Alderson (Town) is proposing to design and construct a water system rehabilitation project within Summers County, West Virginia. Several sections of the Town’s existing waterline have been identified as undersized or suspected of containing leaks, and numerous valves and hydrants have been identified as non-functioning and in need of replacement. The proposed infrastructure would address the unsanitary and unsafe conditions associated with the existing water system.

Consolidation of Studies

The Water Resources Development Act establishes a single-phase cost-shared study process that for each feasibility study undertaken, the district engineer will develop a detailed study schedule and notify the non-federal interests.
