    The proposed action is a sewer replacement project is located on Buhrer Avenue between West 14 Street and 1,150 feet east. The existing combined sewer system that services the residential neighborhood was built in 1892. This area consists of approximately 50 houses with an approximately 8-acre tributary area. The sewer pipe is structurally deteriorating and has multiple cracks and collapses that cause the sewer system to fail, thus decreasing sewer capacity and leading to frequent basement and street flooding.     Approximately 60,000 cubic yards of material will be dredged from within Rocky River Harbor federal navigation channels, including entrance and river channels. Fine-grained material totaling approximately 10,000 cubic yards will be placed at the existing 160-acre open-water placement area in Lake Erie, located 1.5 miles northeast and offshore of the harbor. The remaining 50,000 cubic yards of sediment to be dredged (predominantly coarse grain) will be discharged at the 80-acre nearshore placement site located 1.6 miles down shore of the harbor within the lake littoral zone.

  • Lake Barkley Shoreline Management Plan (SMP) Review

    The Lake Barkley Shoreline Management Plan (SMP) Review plan contains policies and guidelines for the effective long-range management of the shoreline resources on Lake Barkley. The primary objective of the SMP is to balance private shoreline uses, such as private boat docks, with the protection and conservation of Lake Barkley’s natural resources. In order to address ever changing public use demands affecting these natural resources, the SMP is reviewed every five years and updated if necessary. During this review process, public workshops will be held to seek the input from users of Lake Barkley. The workshops will begin at 6 p.m. on each of the following dates: • March 25 at Lee S. Jones Park (Lyon Convention Center) in Eddyville, Kentucky • March 27 at Lake Barkley State Resort Park (Sunrise Room) in Cadiz, Kentucky • April 1 at the Stewart County Visitor Center in Dover, Tennessee Written comments will also be accepted for 30 days following the public workshops.
