Center Hill Dam to change hydropower ramp up rates
The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Nashville District is announcing important changes to the hydropower ramp up rates at Center Hill Dam. These updates, which go into effect June 30th, are part of the new Water Control Manual.

Safe Boating Urged as Outer Harbor Wetland Construction Begins
The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Buffalo District is urging boaters to use caution as construction of the submerged stone wall at the entrance to Shipping Slip 3 on the Outer Harbor begins. Buoys that marked the submerged wall have been removed, allowing Ryba Marine Construction Co. to finish placement of additional bedding stone, 4.8 feet of underlayer stone, and 7.2 feet of armor stone.

Dale Hollow Dam Road closing for preventative maintenance
CELINA, Tenn. (June 5, 2024) – The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Nashville District announces Dale Hollow Dam Road is closing to all traffic across the dam 8 a.m. Monday, June 17 for an extended amount of time for preventative maintenance on and around the roadway. The end date is yet to be determined. Dates are subject to change based on contractor schedule.

USACE reopens Rockland Recreation Area launch ramp in time for summer recreation season
NASHVILLE, Tenn. (May 22, 2024) – The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Nashville District is pleased to announce the full restoration and reopening of the Rockland Recreation Area launch ramp at Old Hickory Lake, marking a significant milestone in recovery efforts following the closure caused by an EF3 tornado Dec. 9, 2023.

Flood data reveals USACE projects prevented $180 million in damages in Cumberland River Basin
NASHVILLE, Tenn. (May 21, 2024) – A preliminary analysis of data from the early May high-water event in middle Tennessee, conducted by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Nashville District, has revealed that USACE projects reduced flood damage by an estimated $180 million.

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (May 17, 2024) – The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Nashville District announces Bell Road across J. Percy Priest Dam is closing at 6 a.m. Tuesday, May 28, 2024, until 6 p.m. Friday, May 31, 2024, for routine maintenance activities.

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (May 16, 2024) – The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Nashville District has increased controlled spillway gate water release operations for Center Hill Dam in Lancaster, Tennessee.

Beach nourishment efforts begin again as U.S. Army Corps of Engineers use BIL funds for Indiana Shoreline Protection Project.
The Indiana shoreline near Mount Baldy dune is receiving sand again this year to help counteract shoreline erosion. The design and construction supervision are managed by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE), Chicago District and has been done for seven of the last ten years. The project is dependent on the availability of beach nourishment government funds. This year, over $2.7M of the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law (BIL) funds are being used to complete the project.
