That's a Wrap – Black Rock Lock Looks Back on 2024

(BUFALO, N.Y.) Jan. 17, 2025 – The Black Rock Lock has wrapped up an eventful year, bringing a mix of challenges and achievements for a lock which is over 100 years old. Maintained and operated by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Buffalo District, the Black Rock Lock provides the only means for deep draft commercial vessels to reach delivery ports on the upper Niagara River. It also provides safe navigation by allowing vessels to bypass the rapids on the Niagara River at the outlet of Lake Erie.

Bobby Bartlett lauded for half century of stewardship at Dale Hollow Lake

CELINA, Tenn. (Dec. 12, 2024) – Park Ranger Bobby Bartlett attended both the 50th and 75th anniversaries of Dale Hollow Dam and has been a steward of Dale Hollow Lake for half a century. He is somewhat of a legend in U.S. Army Corps of Engineers circles and in local communities for his water safety and public outreach work and as a caretaker of the lake and its recreation areas.

Kaylee Wendt has been a prominent figure on televisions throughout Buffalo for over 10 years, delivering weather forecasts as a broadcast meteorologist. After speaking with the Corps of Engineers for background on a story, Kaylee saw herself fitting into a role with the Buffalo District. She worked on her resume, applied, and now has a good work-life balance, is close to home, and gets to pursue her passion as a Multimedia Specialist.
