Senecaville Lake Project, located in the southeast corner of Guernsey County and the northeast corner of Noble County, Ohio, is one of a system of projects designed to provide flood control and water conservation in the Muskingum Watershed in southeastern Ohio. The project is 1.4 miles upstream of the town of Senecaville and twenty-one miles upstream of Cambridge, Ohio. Senecaville Lake forms a conservation pool for flood control, recreation, fish and wildlife, and for the maintenance of normal downstream flows during dry periods. The Dam is separated into two embankment sections, North and South, by a rock knoll, through which the outlet works is located and across a low dike constructed section. Both embankments are rolled impervious fill with a downstream rock shell. For tours of Senecaville Lake Dam, Intake Structure, and Flood Control Facilities, contact the Project Office  (740) 685-5585.

Restrooms are provided at the Public Rest Area, located at the north end of the dam, which is open year around.

Fourth of July Fireworks on the Lake take place on the closest Saturday night to the fourth; it is advised to call the Senecaville Lake Park Office to confirm  (740) 685-6013. The Fireworks will be set off from the Big Island.
