Black River Harbor, Michigan is located at the mouth of the Black River on the south shore of Lake Superior 39 miles westerly from Ontonagon, MI, and 47 miles easterly from Ashland, WI. The project was authorized by the Rivers and Harbors Act of March 2, 1945. The existing project provides for two converging breakwaters, an entrance channel between breakwaters, an inner channel, and an irregular harbor basin. The harbor services primarily recreational navigation interests.
