  • USACE seeks proposals for Challenge Cost-Sharing Cooperative Management Agreement for Barren River Lake’s Tailwater Campground Recreation Area

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Louisville District is seeking proposals from Non-Federal Public Entities to enter a Challenge Cost-Sharing Cooperative Management Agreement (CCSCMA) for the purpose of co-managing recreational sites with the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers. The recreational site under consideration is located at Barren River Lake and includes the Tailwater Campground in Allen County, Kentucky.
  • USACE announces new management of Pikes Ridge Recreation Area at Green River Lake

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Louisville District announces new management of the Pikes Ridge Campground recreation area at Green River Lake near Campbellsville, Kentucky. Effective March 1, 2026, Pikes Ridge Campground Recreation Area will be managed under a lease agreement with Common Capital RE Holdings LLC, with BrightSky Campgrounds overseeing day-to-day operations and reservation services on behalf of the lessee.

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Louisville District announces new management of the Cave Creek recreation area at Rough River Lake near Falls of Rough, Kentucky, for the 2026 recreation season. Effective March 1, 2026, Cave Creek Campground will be managed under a lease agreement with Common Capital RE Holdings LLC, with BrightSky Campgrounds overseeing day-to-day operations and reservation services on behalf of the lessee.

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Louisville District announces new management of the North Fork recreation area at Rough River Lake near Falls of Rough, Kentucky, for the 2026 recreation season. Effective immediately, North Fork Campground will be managed by Brightsky Campgrounds.

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Louisville District announces new management of the Wax Campground recreation area at Nolin River Lake in Grayson County, Kentucky, for the 2026 recreation season. Effective immediately, Wax Campground will be managed by Wax Marina.
  • Cordell Hull Dam tailwater area closes for bluff stabilization project

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers begins the next phase of a bluff scaling project at Cordell Hull Dam on Jan. 12, 2026, closing the tailwater restroom and fishing walkway for approximately one year. This project involves removing loose rock and vegetation from the bluff to mitigate public safety hazards. While these specific areas are closed, other facilities at the Right Bank Tailwater Recreation Area, including the boat ramp, playground, and picnic shelter, remain open. Officials anticipate the closed areas will reopen in January 2027 or as soon as the work is complete.
  • Smith Springs Recreation Area closes for winter season

    ANTIOCH, Tenn. (Oct. 29, 2025) – The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Nashville District is closing Smith Springs Recreation Area at J. Percy Priest Lake starting Monday Nov. 3, 2025, through March 2, 2026, for maintenance during the winter season.

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Detroit District will close the Soo Locks Visitor Center in Canal Park for the season at 7 p.m. Oct. 31.
  • Lillydale Day Use Recreation Area closing for repairs

    ALLONS, Tenn. (Sept. 8, 2025) – The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Nashville District announces that Lillydale Day Use Recreation Area, to include its picnic and swimming area on Dale Hollow Lake, is temporarily closing for maintenance and repairs starting Sept. 15, 2025. The closure is expected to last for several weeks.
