  • USACE announces new management of North Fork recreation area at Rough River Lake

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Louisville District announces new management of the North Fork recreation area at Rough River Lake near Falls of Rough, Kentucky, for the 2026 recreation season. Effective immediately, North Fork Campground will be managed by Brightsky Campgrounds.

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Louisville District will host an informational public meeting to provide an update on Phase 2 of the Rough River Dam Safety Modification project at Rough River Lake in Falls of Rough, Kentucky.

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Louisville District announces new management of the Wax Campground recreation area at Nolin River Lake in Grayson County, Kentucky, for the 2026 recreation season. Effective immediately, Wax Campground will be managed by Wax Marina.
  • FUSRAP Seaway Site Five-Year Review of Selected Remedy

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) Buffalo District is performing a five-year review of the selected remedy for the Formerly Utilized Sites Remedial Action Program (FUSRAP) Seaway Site, located within the 100-acre Seaway Industrial Park located along River Road in the Town of Tonawanda, New York. USACE, as the lead federal agency for FUSRAP, is responsible under the Comprehensive Environmental Response, Compensation, and Liability Act (CERCLA) to review the protectiveness of the selected remedy every five years following the start of remedial action.

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE), Great Lakes and Ohio River Division, is actively managing ice conditions on the Ohio River following a recent winter storm to ensure the continued movement of commerce along the Ohio River.
  • Willow Island Locks and Dam temporarily cease locking due to icy conditions

    Locking operations have been temporarily suspended at Willow Island Locks and Dam on the Ohio River in Reno, Ohio (Ohio River Mile 161.7) due to ice build-up, which is preventing miter gates on the main chamber from operating properly.
  • Cordell Hull Dam tailwater area closes for bluff stabilization project

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers begins the next phase of a bluff scaling project at Cordell Hull Dam on Jan. 12, 2026, closing the tailwater restroom and fishing walkway for approximately one year. This project involves removing loose rock and vegetation from the bluff to mitigate public safety hazards. While these specific areas are closed, other facilities at the Right Bank Tailwater Recreation Area, including the boat ramp, playground, and picnic shelter, remain open. Officials anticipate the closed areas will reopen in January 2027 or as soon as the work is complete.

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers announced today the publication of the 2026 nationwide permits in the Federal Register. The 56 reissued and one new nationwide permit in the final action are necessary for work in streams, wetlands and other waters of the United States under Section 404 of the Clean Water Act and Section 10 of the Rivers and Harbors Act of 1899.
  • U.S. Army Corps of Engineers announces finalization of nationwide permits

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers announced today that it will reissue 56 existing nationwide permits and issue one new permit for work in wetlands and other waters that are regulated by Section 404 of the Clean Water Act and/or Section 10 of the Rivers and Harbors Act of 1899. One existing permit will not be reissued.
  • Soo Locks closing for seasonal repair, maintenance

    The Soo Locks in Sault Ste. Marie, Michigan will close to all marine traffic beginning 11:59 p.m. January 15, or until commercial traffic ceases, through 12:01 a.m. March 25 to perform seasonal critical maintenance. Federal regulation (33 CFR 207.440) establishes the operating season based on the feasibility of vessels operating during typical Great Lakes ice conditions.
