  • U.S. Army Corps of Engineers announces publication of 2026 nationwide permits

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers announced today the publication of the 2026 nationwide permits in the Federal Register. The 56 reissued and one new nationwide permit in the final action are necessary for work in streams, wetlands and other waters of the United States under Section 404 of the Clean Water Act and Section 10 of the Rivers and Harbors Act of 1899.
  • U.S. Army Corps of Engineers announces finalization of nationwide permits

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers announced today that it will reissue 56 existing nationwide permits and issue one new permit for work in wetlands and other waters that are regulated by Section 404 of the Clean Water Act and/or Section 10 of the Rivers and Harbors Act of 1899. One existing permit will not be reissued.
  • U.S. Army Corps of Engineers awards construction contract for Phase 2 of Rough River Dam Safety Modification project

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Louisville District, awarded a base contract for $320 million to Thalle-Bauer LLC., out of Hillsborough, North Carolina, Dec. 18, for Phase 2 of the Rough River Dam Safety Modification project. This is a base and option contract with the total contract value expected to be around $655M at contract completion. Phase 2 will include construction of a new outlet works and a full-depth cutoff wall across the dam, which will provide permanent risk reduction to communities downstream.
  • USACE Louisville, Nashville districts to co-host Regulatory Program Workshop

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Louisville District and Nashville District will co-host a free Regulatory Transformation Workshop on Tuesday, Jan 13 from 8 a.m. – 4 p.m. (EDT) at the Seelbach Hilton Hotel, located at 500 S 4th St., Louisville, KY 40202. All partners, stakeholders and the public are invited to attend to learn more about the USACE Regulatory Program, including recent initiatives to improve the timeliness of permit decisions while ensuring the protection of important aquatic resources and navigation.
  • Fisherman's Access Trail on Shippingport Island is temporarily closed due to thefts, misuse

    The Fisherman’s Access Trail located along the western bank of Shippingport Island within the Falls of the Ohio National Wildlife Conservation Area in Louisville, Kentucky, is temporarily closed from public access effective immediately due to ongoing improper uses of the site.
  • Temporary navigation restrictions at McAlpine Locks and Dam for LG&E power line replacement

    This week, a contractor for Louisville Gas and Electric (LG&E) will perform maintenance on power lines that cross over the Portland Canal, just upstream of McAlpine Locks and Dam at Ohio River Mile 605 in Louisville, Kentucky.
  • USACE to conduct routine dam maintenance activities at Barren River Lake

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Louisville District will be conducting dam maintenance activities at Barren River Lake in Glasgow, Kentucky, which could impact public access to the tailwater area. These activities are tentatively scheduled to begin Aug. 10 and last through Aug. 17, 2025.
  • USACE announces upcoming maintenance activities at Nolin River Lake

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Louisville District will be conducting maintenance activities this summer at Nolin River Lake in Mammoth Cave, Kentucky, which could impact public access to the tailwater area and lake levels during the period of work. Visitors may see construction equipment being staged near the stilling basin as early as today, as these activities are scheduled to begin mid-July and last through August 2025.
