  • Draft Supplemental Environmental Assessment, Bluestone Dam phase 5 Project, Miller Avenue Hauling Restrictions, Summers County, West Virginia

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Huntington District (Corps) has conducted an environmental analysis in accordance with the National Environmental Policy Act of 1969, as amended. The Environmental Assessment (EA), dated May 2023, for the Bluestone Dam Phase 5, Miller Avenue Hauling Restrictions to identify a more efficient alternative for truck hauling for the Bluestone Dam during Phase 5 construction in Summers County, West Virginia. The need for the haul restriction changes would lead to efficiency of the Project construction.

  • Draft Environmental Assessment, Section 340 Pickaway Waterline Extension Project, Monroe County, West Virginia

    The Town of Union, West Virginia is proposing to design and construct a waterline extension project for the Village of Pickaway, West Virginia. Residents and businesses within the project area rely on individual water systems consisting of unreliable wells and cisterns. The proposed infrastructure would address the unsanitary and unsafe conditions associated with the existing water supply system and provide potable water and fire services to areas not served by public water services.

  • Draft Environmental Assessment, Section 340 Glen Morgan Wastewater Treatment Plant Upgrade, Raleigh County, West Virginia

    The Shady Springs Public Service District is proposing to design and construct a wastewater treatment plant upgrade project in Glen Morgan, Raleigh County, West Virginia. The existing wastewater treatment plant is nearing its design capacity and contains aging and deteriorating components. The proposed infrastructure would address the unsanitary and unsafe conditions associated with the existing wastewater treatment plant.

  • Grayson Lake Water Supply Storage Reallocation Study

    This reallocation study has been initiated at the request of the City of Grayson (City) operating the Grayson Utilities Commission (GUC) to consider reallocation of storage space in Grayson Lake to yield 3 million gallons of water per day (mgd). The request is based on a need to identify a reliable, clean, and economical source of municipal water to meet the City’s needs into the future.

  • Section 571 Apple Grove WWTP project

    The Mason County Public Service District is proposing to design and construct a wastewater treatment plant project for the newly announced Nucor Manufacturing Facility and eventually the communities of Apple Grove, Mercers Bottom, Ashton, and surrounding areas of Mason County, West Virginia. All residences and businesses within the project area currently rely on private septic systems or home aeration units, several of which are failing. The proposed infrastructure would address the unsanitary and unsafe conditions associated with the existing sanitary sewer system.

  • Draft environmental assessment, Section 594 ‎Village of Lowell Wastewater Treatment Plant project, Washington County, Ohio

    The Village of Lowell, Ohio is proposing to design and construct a wastewater treatment plant replacement project adjacent to their existing treatment plant located in Washington County, Ohio. The existing treatment plant was built in 1987, and many of its components are well beyond their functional lifecycle/lifespan. The treatment plant’s headworks lift station has experienced significant corrosion and currently only one (1) pump is in working condition. In addition, the grit removal facility and the majority of the oxidation basin diffusers have failed and are no longer in use. The treatment plant does not have the adequate sludge storage, digester, and dewatering capabilities necessary to keep biological processes optimal, and the sludge bed is susceptible to flooding. Capacity of the treatment plant has diminished significantly in the past 10 years and has led to multiple instances of exceeding Ohio Environmental Protection Agency limitations on effluent flow. The proposed replacement wastewater treatment plant would address the unsanitary and unsafe conditions associated with the existing treatment plant.

    The Winfield Locks and Dam are located at river mile 31.1 on the Kanawha River at Red House, WV, and is one of three similar projects constructed on the Kanawha River to provide a navigable depth of nine feet. Winfield Locks and Dam is an integral component of the Kanawha River navigation system that provides an efficient, reliable, and economical means for commodity transport.
