On June 10, 2022, teammates from the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Great Lakes and Ohio River Division Headquarters in Cincinnati, Ohio celebrated Engineers Day with a picnic on the shore of the Ohio River at Fernbank Park.
Upon arrival, members were greeted with opening remarks from both Division Commander Col. Kimberly Peeples and Acting Regional Business Director, Mr. Steven Fischer.
This event marked the first official in-person gathering at the Division since the COVID-19 pandemic. As a result, many new faces were present at the picnic. Leadership took this opportunity to introduce and recognize new employees – many of which have only corresponded via teleworking.
Length of Service Awards were also given out as a think you for their commitment to public service. These individuals included Senior Engineer, Jeremy Cobb, Business Management Lead, Jennifer Baffi, Executive Support Assistant, Cheri Klink, Environmental Program Manager, Stephen Siefert, FRM Business Line Program Manager/Operations Specialist, Denise Rouse, and Military Human Resources Coordinator, Craig Tenhundfeld.
After introductions and awards were presented, teammates joined one another for a catered lunch full of summertime classics, and joined for activities including corn hole, volleyball, ring toss, and other games. Children – and grandchildren – were also present and joined in on the fun.
