Nashville District tames Cumberland River with the 'Old Locks'
Lock 1 on the Cumberland River in Nashville, Tenn., is shown under construction Nov. 18, 1893. The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Nashville District constructed the lock and dam to establish a navigation channel. This lock and dam was replaced by today's modern dam system.
