COUNTY-STATE: Union County, Kentucky.
APPLICANT: Alliance Coal, LLC.
PROJECT PURPOSE: To update a historical Department of the Army (DA) permit authorization, provide additional barge fleeting and to transfer the DA permit to UC Processing, LLC from Peabody Coal Company.
DESCRIPTION OF WORK: The applicant is requesting the existing DA authorization be modified to allow barge mooring with a maximum capacity of 60 material barges organized into two separate fleets. No further loading or unloading of material would be done at this location. The upstream fleeting would consist of a maximum of 30 barges held in a 6 long by 5 wide configuration, for a total length of 1170’ and width of 175’. The maximum riverward projection would be 309’ from normal pool of 342’ ORD. The downstream fleet would consist of a maximum of 30 barges held in a 5 long by 6 wide configuration, for a total length of 975’ and width of 210’. The maximum riverward projection would be 274’ at normal pool 342’ ORD. The existing dock barge would not change. In addition, the current permit authorization will be transferred from Peabody Coal Company to UC Processing, LLC.
