Join the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers for a ranger-guided walking tour of the Mount Morris Dam to learn how the dam works and the significance of this engineering marvel.
Still an active, working dam, a limited number of visitors can participate in a walking tour. A walking tour is ideal for active visitors with an interest in engineering and natural resource management.
Please note: The ranger-guided walking tour is not considered accessible for individuals using a wheelchair or with mobility limitations due to the very steep walkway used to access the top of the dam, which ascends and descends over 100 feet in elevation on a 10% grade. Total walking distance is approximately 1 mile and may be considered somewhat strenuous.
Good to know:
- Reservations: Pre-arrival reservations are strongly recommended and can be booked on www.Recreation.gov up to 7 days in advance until 10:00am ET on the morning of the ranger-guided walking tour.
- Fees: Mount Morris Dam and Recreation Area does not charge nor collect any fees for participation in tours, however, Recreation.gov charges a non-refundable reservation service fee of $1 per ticket.

The Mount Morris Dam and Recreation Area Visitor Center offers interactive exhibits featuring Mount Morris Dam History and the US Army Corps of Engineers.
The outdoor recreation area is open year-round from 6:00 a.m. to 11:00 p.m.

Mount Morris Dam and Recreation Area is a U.S. Army Corps of Engineers day-use park that offers a beautiful setting overlooking Letchworth Canyon, known as the "Grand Canyon of the East".
Are you looking for a great way to enjoy the outdoors on your day off or spend a little time with your family? Mount Morris Dam and Recreation Area has variety of picnic shelter with BBQ grills. There are also two playground areas that are a big hit with the kids! All areas are free and available to the public on a first-come, first-served basis.
Experience year-round wildlife viewing opportunities from Mount Morris Dam and Recreation Area and adjoining hiking trails. From bluebirds to bald eagles and white-tailed deer, Mount Morris Dam and Recreation Area is a great place to observe New York’s abundant natural resources.
