Detroit District Regulatory Division
Jurisdiction – Indiana
The Detroit District oversees regulatory authority in parts of northern Indiana, particularly areas adjacent to Michigan such as portions of Lake and Steuben counties. Its jurisdiction includes activities affecting navigable waters, wetlands, and floodplains within these areas.

Regional General Permit (RGP) Notifications
The Indiana Regional General Permit (RGP) Notification Form (Form 51937) is not currently available via RRS. To submit an RGP Notification, please fill out the form via the IDEM Forms Directory and email it to: LRE_REG_Michiana@usace.army.mil.

Coordination Requirements
Certain projects require coordination with other agencies.
Water Quality Certification (Section 401)
A Section 401 certification from the Indiana Department of Environmental Management (IDEM) may be required for discharges.
Endangered Species Act (ESA)
You may need to consult with the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service for potential impacts to threatened or endangered species within the project area.
Historic Properties (NHPA Section 106)
Projects affecting cultural or historic resources must go through consultation with the State Historic Preservation Office (SHPO) or Tribal Historic Preservation Office (THPO), if applicable.
Section 408 Review
Projects that affect an existing Corps civil works structure may require authorization under Section 408. Learn more via our Section 408 Program.
