    Guandique becomes 69th commander of Nashville District

    NASHVILLE, Tenn. (June 18, 2025) – Lt. Col. Guillermo J. Guandique took command of the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Nashville District today during a change of command ceremony at the Tennessee Grand Lodge. He becomes the 69th commander of the “twin rivers” district, commonly referred to as the jewel of the Great Lakes and Ohio River Division.

    NASHVILLE, Tenn. (June 3, 2025) – The steady flow of the Cumberland River is intertwined with the story of the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers. As the Army and USACE mark a quarter-millennium of service this month, it’s fitting to highlight the Nashville District’s enduring legacy in shaping the landscape of the region, reducing flood risk, powering communities, establishing navigation, promoting safe recreation, and stewarding natural resources.

    Regulatory team receives Hedgehog Award for Hurricane Helene permitting actions

    NASHVILLE, Tenn. (May 15, 2025) – The Regulatory Division Hurricane Helene Rapid Response Permitting Team received the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Nashville District’s Hedgehog Award yesterday in recognition of outstanding dedication and professionalism in processing more than 200 emergency permit applications following Hurricane Helene.

(April 24, 2025) – A proactive strategic communicator and storyteller in Public Affairs is being recognized for effectively publicizing water management operations at dams throughout the Cumberland River Basin during recent high-water events impacting middle Tennessee and western Kentucky.

    Congressman responsible for improving water resources infrastructure visits locks

    That's a Wrap – Black Rock Lock Looks Back on 2024

    (BUFALO, N.Y.) Jan. 17, 2025 – The Black Rock Lock has wrapped up an eventful year, bringing a mix of challenges and achievements for a lock which is over 100 years old. Maintained and operated by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Buffalo District, the Black Rock Lock provides the only means for deep draft commercial vessels to reach delivery ports on the upper Niagara River. It also provides safe navigation by allowing vessels to bypass the rapids on the Niagara River at the outlet of Lake Erie.
