Corps invests $205 million in Tennessee, Kentucky projects

The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Nashville District received $205 million in the FY2025 Work Plan to support infrastructure, navigation, and environmental stewardship in the Cumberland River Basin across Tennessee and Kentucky. Of this, $173 million is designated for operations and maintenance of dams, locks, and recreational facilities. An additional $32.2 million will fund ongoing construction of the Chickamauga Lock in Chattanooga, TN. Kentucky will receive $48.69 million, while Tennessee gets $124.31 million, with major investments in navigation, flood control, and hydropower systems. This funding supports safe, efficient infrastructure and benefits regional communities and the environment.

Dredging on the Way for Great Sodus & Oak Orchard

The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Buffalo District awarded a $2 million contract to Michigan-based Dean Marine & Excavating on May 13 to conduct dredging of the federal navigation channels in Great Sodus Bay and Oak Orchard Harbor on Lake Ontario. Dredging of these harbors ensures accessible depths for vessels traveling the Great Lakes and enables recreational boating which supports more than $24 million in business revenue and labor income to the transportation sector combined.

Dredging on the Way for Conneaut & Fairport Harbors

The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Buffalo District awarded a total of $9.3 million in contracts to Michigan-based Walsh Service Solutions, LLC on May 13 to conduct dredging of the federal navigation channels in Conneaut and Fairport harbor this summer. Dredging of harbors like these ensures accessible depths for large vessels, the continued flow of commodities across the Great Lakes, and the economic viability of United States waterways.

USACE, Chicago District receives more than $255 million in Civil Works Appropriations for continuation of FY25 work plan

The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Chicago District will receive a total of $255.3 million in funding under the Army Civil Works Programs. The amount covers costs for construction and operation & maintenance on projects on the FY25 work plan. The Chicago District’s area of responsibility includes water resource development in the Chicago metropolitan area, upper Illinois River watershed, Lake Michigan watershed in Wisconsin and upper Wabash River watershed in Indiana, covering an area of about 31,500 square miles.

Lake Superior Maritime Visitor Center Announces Operations for Summer 2025 Season

The Lake Superior Maritime Visitor Center in Duluth, Minnesota announces operations hours for the summer season. The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers’ Lake Superior Maritime Visitor Center will have summer operating times of five days a week and six hours per operating day for the summer 2025 season. The opening days and times will be Thursday-Monday, 10:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. starting Memorial Day week through Labor Day week.

Detroit District receives $558.9 million investment from FY25 Work Plan

The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Detroit District, is receiving a total allocation in the Operations & Maintenance account of $291.2 million in the Work Plan, released May 15, 2025, for connecting channels and harbor projects, $264.1 million for the New Lock at the Soo construction project and $3.6 million to conduct investigation studies. The released work plan provides the entire appropriation for the Corps of Engineers under the yearlong continuing resolution that was passed. “This is an exciting opportunity for the Detroit District team to provide solutions to our regional infrastructure,” said Detroit District Commander Lt. Col. Wallace Bandeff. “Repairing, maintaining and improving our federal harbors and infrastructure is essential to bring resiliency to our communities, our economy and the environment. I know the Detroit District team and our partners are ready to deliver these historic investments!"

USACE Work Plan Delivers More Than $235M for Infrastructure Improvements, Dredging, Environmental Remediation, and More Across NY, PA, OH

The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Buffalo District received a total of $235.6 million in the Fiscal Year 2025 Work Plan for Army Civil Works to strengthen critical infrastructure across three states and the shoreline of lakes Erie and Ontario and for Manhattan Project Cleanup. The work plan funding adds to the hundreds of millions of dollars for projects and programs the Buffalo District is already delivering in FY25, paving the way for significant civil works, navigation, and environmental improvements across its 38,000 square mile area of responsibility.

Corps of Engineers dredging St. Joseph Harbor starting May 13

The U.S. Corps of Engineers, Detroit District will start dredging outer St. Joseph Harbor on May 13 to keep the federal channel open. The purpose of dredging is to remove shoaling and to perform preventative maintenance at the harbor mouth to avoid interruptions to the commercial shipping season

Nolin River Lake recreational facilities impacted by high water

As the recreation season approaches, the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Louisville District is providing an update regarding USACE-managed recreation areas at Nolin River Lake in Bee Spring, Kentucky, as it pertains to the recent high-water event. Nolin River Lake is working to assess, clean, and repair recreation facilities affected by spring flooding. Based on current conditions, we are adjusting our anticipated opening schedule as follows (subject to change).
