U.S. Army Corps of Engineers to begin construction on Vermilion Harbor West Pier

VERMILION, Ohio — The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Buffalo District and its contractor, Norwalk, Ohio-based Mark Schaffer Excavating-Trucking, are scheduled to begin repairs to the Vermilion Harbor West Pier the week of Sept. 4. Construction will temporarily limit access to the Main Street beach while repairs are made, ensuring the harbor remains economically viable and able to provide access for recreation and refuge to boaters on the Great Lakes.

Army Corps working to restore Crooked River Lock in Alanson, Michigan

The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Detroit District (USACE) is working to restore operations to the Crooked River Lock in Alanson, after an electrical malfunction the evening of Thursday, Aug. 24, caused the lock to be shutdown to recreational boat traffic. Replacement parts for an obsolete safety module are expected by Sept. 15 to restore the lock to full functioning capability. Boaters will not be able to navigate between Crooked River and Crooked Lake during this time

NR 23-31: Comment Period extended for Center Hill Water Control Manual Environmental Assessment

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (Aug. 23, 2023) – The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Nashville District has extended the comment period for the draft Environmental Assessment and unsigned Finding of No Significant Impact for the revision of the 1998 Center Hill Dam and Reservoir Water Control Manual. Comments will be accepted until September 15, 2023.

NR 23-30: Wolf Creek Dam oxygen diffuser project contract awarded

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (Aug. 17, 2023) – The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Nashville District announces a base contract award to Brasfield & Gorrie, L.L.C., of $16.8M for the Dissolved Oxygen facility. This is a sustainability project funded by the Section 212 Program to install an upstream diffuser system at Wolf Creek Dam on the Cumberland River in Jamestown, Kentucky.

NR 23-29: Dale Hollow Dam Road closing for scheduled maintenance

CELINA, Tenn. (Aug. 14, 2023) – The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Nashville District announces Dale Hollow Dam Road is closing to all traffic across the dam 8 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 20, 2023, for inspection of the bridge and roadway. The duration of closure is expected to last only one day.
