SAEGERTOWN, Pa. -- The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Pittsburgh District announced a Notice of Availability (NOA) for Woodcock Lake Park, the leasing is available for viewing on Woodcock Creek Lake’s website at https://www.lrp.usace.army.mil/Missions/Recreation/Lakes/Woodcock-Creek-Lake/Woodcock-Creek-Lake-Leasing-Development-Opportunity/.
An NOA begins an official process of soliciting interest for the potential transfer of management responsibilities for Woodcock Lake Park under a long-term lease. Potential lessees may request an application for leasing through Nov. 9, 2023.
The 277-acre area includes a campground, boat launch, beach, picnic areas, and other recreational facilities.
The leasing opportunity allows entrepreneurs to collect a fair profit while being an intricate part of the community.
Meadville Mayor, Jaime Kinder has fond childhood memories of camping at Woodcock Creek Lake.
“My mother was a single mom, every year she took us camping at Woodcock Lake,” Kinder said. “Being at the lake showed me a world outside of my everyday one and exposed me to nature and animals that I wouldn’t have seen. Camping became a family tradition for us and its something I was able to give my children as well.”
Entrepreneurs can propose upgrades to campsites, the swim beach, restrooms and showers, and playgrounds.
Additional development opportunities may include a marina, dog park, disc course, concession facilities, picnic areas and shelters, courtesy docks, boat rentals, environmental learning facilities, and other recreational activities.
Woodcock Creek Lake hosts more than 169,000 visitors annually and features popular attractions such as an 18-hole disc golf course, hiking trails, and fishing locations. The corps is currently upgrading the facility’s Bossard Nature Center, installing interpretive displays throughout the park, and enhancing the lake’s surrounding infrastructure.
