NR 23-03: Wolf Creek Dam oxygen diffuser project underway

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (Feb. 9, 2023) – The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Nashville District is executing a sustainability project funded by the Section 212 Program to install an upstream diffuser system at Wolf Creek Dam on the Cumberland River in Jamestown, Kentucky.

Investigations into October blasting incident complete

Investigations into the blasting incident that took place on the Louisville VA Medical Center construction site on Oct. 4, 2022, are complete. The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, the Kentucky Division of Mine Reclamation and Enforcement, and DynoConsult, a third-party consultant retained by the prime contractor Walsh-Turner Joint Venture, each conducted independent investigations to determine the cause of the incident and identify remediation measures for future blasts.

NR 22-25: Portion of Kendall Recreation Area closing for erosion control project

JAMESTOWN, Ky. (Oct. 20, 2022) – The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Nashville District announces that portions of Kendall Campground and Day Use Area, to include its boat ramp and roadway along the riverside campground, are closing for repairs Oct. 24, 2022, through early April 2023 to rehabilitate flood damage sustained in February 2019.

NR 22-22: Contract awarded for Wolf Creek Dam Spillway Gates Replacement Project

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (Sept. 29, 2022) – The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Nashville District awarded a $109,450,000 contract yesterday to American Bridge Company for the Wolf Creek Dam Spillway Gates Replacement Project. The project is fully funded by the Disaster Relief Supplemental Appropriations Act of 2022.

Blasting work will tentatively begin on the construction site of the new Louisville VA Medical Center Friday, Feb. 4. It’s expected to occur daily between 2 and 2:30 p.m. daily and continue through April 2022.

NR 22-02: Bipartisan bills support Nashville District projects

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (Jan. 20, 2022) – The U.S. Army announced yesterday the Civil Works studies, projects, and programs that the Corps of Engineers would implement in Fiscal Year 2022 with the $22.81 billion in supplemental funding provided in two recently enacted laws — the Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act; and the 2022 Disaster Relief Supplemental Appropriations Act.

Brookville Dam temporarily closed to public access due to construction activities

Portions of the dam recreational area at Brookville Lake, Brookville, Indiana, are temporarily closed to public access while contractors are performing some improvements. To ensure public safety during upcoming construction activities, some public access points will be temporarily closed effective today, March 3, 2021. These intermittent closures will affect vehicular and pedestrian traffic on top of the dam as well as entry points to the Adena Trace hiking trail.

FishPass project to begin construction

DETROIT – A U.S. Army Corps of Engineers contractor is set to commence construction on the FishPass Project in Traverse City, Michigan the week of January 18. The contractor will begin by installing fencing, removing trees and preparing the site. “This milestone represents years of hard work from many dedicated partners,” said Marty Colburn, City Manager of Traverse City. “We ask the community to be patient with our construction partners as this exciting project advances. Soon, there will be dedicated viewing sites set up for the public to watch FishPass take shape.”
