  • USACE announces campground and day use fee increase in Green River Area

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Louisville District announces that recreation day use fees and camping fees will increase at select sites for the 2024 recreation season at the following lakes in the Green River Area, which includes Green River Lake in Campbellsville, Barren River Lake in Glasgow, Rough River Lake in Falls of Rough, and Nolin River Lake in Mammoth Cave, Kentucky.
  • Updated Lake Cumberland Shoreline Management Plan released

    SOMERSET, Ky. (March 20, 2024) – The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Nashville District announces the release of the 2024 Lake Cumberland Shoreline Management Plan. This plan is a critical element to how the Corps manages more than 1,000 miles of shoreline created when Wolf Creek Dam impounded the waters of the Cumberland River, creating Lake Cumberland.
  • Soo Locks Engineers Day 2024

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers in conjunction with the City of Sault Ste. Marie, the Sault Ste. Marie Convention & Visitors Bureau, the United States Coast Guard, the Lake Superior State University Center for Freshwater Research and Education, Hospice of the Eastern Upper Peninsula, and Superior Health Systems are hosting open house events for the 2024 Soo Locks Engineers Day on June 28. “One significant change this year is the requirement for all bags coming into the Soo Locks to be clear,” Jason Wojnaroski Soo Project Office Assistant Operations Manager said. “For our visitors bringing bags, clear bags no larger than 12 inches long, 6 inches deep and 12 inches wide will be required for entry to the event.” All persons entering the Soo Locks are subject to a security search. Firearms, weapons, drugs, pets (except service animals) and bicycles are not permitted. Clear bags will allow park security to quickly inspect bags and assist with making this a fun and safe event for everyone.
  • Mount Morris Dam Visitor Center Open for Total Solar Eclipse Weekend

    The Mount Morris Dam and Recreation Area Visitor Center will open early for visitors to watch the 2024 Total Solar Eclipse and enjoy eclipse weekend in Western New York. The Mount Morris Dam is in the “path of totality,” offering visitors an incredible location to view this historic event on Monday, April 8, and enjoy eclipse-themed tours inside the dam on the Saturday and Sunday before.
  • 2025 PRESIDENTS BUDGET DESIGNATES $54.88 MILLION FOR CHICAGO DISTRICT PROJECTS

    The Chicago District is celebrating continued support in the release of the President’s Budget for fiscal year 2025 which includes more than $7.2 billion in discretionary funding for the Civil Works program of the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, including $3 billion for commercial navigation, $1.6 billion for flood and storm damage reduction, and $1.2 billion for aquatic ecosystem restoration. The Chicago District will see around $ million marked for projects within its area of responsibility.

    The President’s Budget for fiscal year 2025 released yesterday includes more than $7.2 billion in discretionary funding for the Civil Works program of the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, with just over $155 million set aside for Buffalo District projects.

  • Corps to host public information session for first Lake Stonycreek flood study

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Pittsburgh District, in partnership with the Federal Emergency Management Agency, will host a public information session about an upcoming flood study for Lake Stonycreek in Somerset County, Pennsylvania. The flood study will assess property surrounding the lake and be used to update FEMA mapping and the county’s flood insurance study.
  • Locking temporarily suspended at McAlpine Locks and Dam

    The lock chambers at McAlpine Locks and Dam (Ohio River mile 606.8 ) in Louisville, Kentucky, are currently closed to traffic due to a navigation accident, which occurred shortly after 4:00 p.m. today, March 8.
