    USACE lauds Kentucky Lock Addition Project contractor for safety milestone

    GRAND RIVERS, Ky. (Oct. 23, 2023) – Thalle Construction Company celebrated reaching 500,000 labor hours without a lost time accident in constructing a larger navigation lock on the Tennessee River. The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Nashville District recognized the remarkable milestone last week and thanked construction workers for their role in delivering a project of national significance.

    Chickamauga’s upstream approach wall piers get solid start

    CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. (Sept. 27, 2023) – The Upstream Approach Walls for the Chickamauga Lock Replacement Project got a solid start when work crews placed 148 cubic yards of tremie concrete Sept. 20 into the drilled shaft on the bottom of the Tennessee River.

    ORBIT stakeholders navigate Kentucky Lock Addition Project

    GRAND RIVERS, Ky. (May 19, 2023) – The Ohio River Basin Inspection Tour visited western Kentucky this week where stakeholders of the basin highlighted healthy and productive ecosystems, reliable flood risk management, and resilience of the Ohio River waterway system for inland navigation. They also navigated to the Kentucky Lock Addition Project for a construction update and better understanding of how the larger lock will help unlock congested commercial barge traffic.

    Maintenance Support Team, Lock engineers tackle tough jobs

    GRAND RIVERS, Ky. (March 10, 2023) – Nashville District Maintenance Support Team and Kentucky Lock engineers onboard the Motor Vessel Iroquois repaired a mooring cell and replaced broken and outdated parts this week just upstream of Kentucky Lock on the Tennessee River in Grand Rivers, Kentucky.
