  • Corps of Engineers begins channel improvements in Manistee

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Detroit District began significant maintenance to the Manistee Harbor federal channel Thursday, April 16. The Corps of Engineers will place about 3,000 tons of stone to reduce wave energy and overtopping, as well as install new timber fenders along 1,800 feet of the North Revetment, near the U.S. Coast Guard Station Manistee. The work is expected to take about two months.
  • J. Percy Priest Dam requires daily road closures March 9-13

    NASHVILLE, Tenn. (Feb. 25, 2026) – The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Nashville District announces Bell Road across J. Percy Priest Dam will temporarily close 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. Monday through Friday from March 9-13, 2026.
  • USACE announces upcoming maintenance activities at Cagles Mill Lake

    LOUISVILLE, Ky. – The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Louisville District will be conducting maintenance activities at Cagles Mill Lake in Poland, Indiana. These activities are scheduled to begin mid-March and last through June 2026.
  • Smith Springs Recreation Area closes for winter season

    ANTIOCH, Tenn. (Oct. 29, 2025) – The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Nashville District is closing Smith Springs Recreation Area at J. Percy Priest Lake starting Monday Nov. 3, 2025, through March 2, 2026, for maintenance during the winter season.
  • USACE announces upcoming maintenance activities at Nolin River Lake

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Louisville District will be conducting maintenance activities this summer at Nolin River Lake in Mammoth Cave, Kentucky, which could impact public access to the tailwater area and lake levels during the period of work. Visitors may see construction equipment being staged near the stilling basin as early as today, as these activities are scheduled to begin mid-July and last through August 2025.
  • Wilson Lock expected to reopen soon

    FLORENCE, Ala. (June 26, 2025) – The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Nashville District officials report that Wilson Lock at Tennessee River mile 259.4 is expected to reopen on or about June 30, 2025. 
  • Wilson Lock main chamber closed until further notice

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Nashville District and the Tennessee Valley Authority have closed the main lock chamber at Wilson Lock on the Tennessee River near Florence, Alabama to conduct additional inspections and possible repairs on the lock chamber. The lock chamber will be closed until further notice.
  • Dale Hollow Dam Road closing for preventative maintenance

    CELINA, Tenn. (June 5, 2024) – The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Nashville District announces Dale Hollow Dam Road is closing to all traffic across the dam 8 a.m. Monday, June 17 for an extended amount of time for preventative maintenance on and around the roadway. The end date is yet to be determined. Dates are subject to change based on contractor schedule.
  • Corps to temporarily close Bell Road over J. Percy Priest Dam for maintenance

    NASHVILLE, Tenn. (May 17, 2024) – The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Nashville District announces Bell Road across J. Percy Priest Dam is closing at 6 a.m. Tuesday, May 28, 2024, until 6 p.m. Friday, May 31, 2024, for routine maintenance activities.
  • Dodson Chapel Access Area closing at J. Percy Priest Dam

    NASHVILLE, Tenn. (March 21, 2024) – The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Nashville District announces that Dodson Chapel Access Area below J. Percy Priest Dam is closing 7 a.m. Monday, March 25 through Friday, April 5, 2024, while crews work to remove vegetation along the roadway to improve visibility and to enhance public safety.
