  • Contract Awarded for Lasting Repairs to Cleveland West Pier

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Buffalo District awarded a $6.9 million contract to Michigan-based Great Lakes Dock & Materials LLC on June 3 for the repair of the Cleveland West Pier. Repairs to the West Pier ensure Cleveland Harbor’s viability and contributions to the local and national transportation sector and protect the future of some of the area’s best waterfront recreation opportunities.
  • Grand Haven North Pier, Government Basin work begins Wednesday

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Detroit District, will begin maintenance projects at the Grand Haven Government Basin and North Pier in Grand Haven, Michigan beginning Wednesday, May 22.  About $1 million will be spent to replenish stone at the rubble mound revetment wall on the eastern edge of the basin, replace aging timber fenders on the basin pier structure, and fill a large concrete void on the North Pier. 
  • Corps of Engineers to start dredging Cleveland Harbor

    Dredging of the Cleveland Harbor federal navigation channel by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Buffalo District and its contractor, Michigan-based Ryba Marine Construction Co., will begin in May. Dredging of harbors like Cleveland’s ensures accessible depths for large vessels, the continued flow of commodities across the Great Lakes, and the economic viability of United States waterways.
