  • Corps of Engineers begins channel improvements in Manistee

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Detroit District began significant maintenance to the Manistee Harbor federal channel Thursday, April 16. The Corps of Engineers will place about 3,000 tons of stone to reduce wave energy and overtopping, as well as install new timber fenders along 1,800 feet of the North Revetment, near the U.S. Coast Guard Station Manistee. The work is expected to take about two months.
  • Dredging operations to begin in Manistee Harbor federal channel

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Detroit District will dredge the Manistee Harbor federal channel to ensure safe navigation as early as Sunday, Sept. 21 — weather dependent. The maintenance project will remove seasonal shoaling at the mouth of the channel, which impacts commercial traffic when left unaddressed.  
  • USACE begins Manistee Harbor Channel dredging

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Detroit District, will begin dredging the Manistee Harbor federal navigational channel June 27 to remove shoaling preventing deep-drafting commercial traffic. About 33,000 cubic years of sediment will be removed from the harbor under a $581,000 contract with King Company of Holland. Funding for the project will come from the Fiscal Year 2022 President’s Budget (PBUD).
