While precipitation has moved out of the region, ongoing reservoir operations are critical to maintaining dam safety and regulating river stages throughout the region.

Old Hickory Dam tailwater boat ramp temporarily closed for debris cleanup

HENDERSONVILLE, Tenn. – The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Nashville District announces that the tailwater launching ramp and fishing platform below Old Hickory Lock & Dam, in Old Hickory, Tenn., is closing on Wednesday, Feb. 12, for contract crews to remove debris and downed trees from the nature trail and surrounding areas after an EF2 tornado passed over the project in Dec. 2023.

USACE Nashville District awards contracts for Old Hickory tornado recovery

Near the one-year anniversary of the EF-2 tornado that severely damaged Old Hickory Lock & Dam and the Rockland Recreation area on Dec. 9, 2023, the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Nashville District has awarded two contracts to rebuild and restore facilities affected by the tornado.

(Oct. 30, 2018) – The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Nashville District announces Shutes Branch Mountain Bike Trail at Old Hickory Lake in Old Hickory, Tenn., is partially closing Oct. 30, 2018 while crews install a septic system for the National Weather Office located in the area. The work is expected to be completed by early January 2019.
