Smith Springs Recreation Area closes for winter season

NTIOCH, Tenn. (Oct. 29, 2025) – The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Nashville District is closing Smith Springs Recreation Area at J. Percy Priest Lake starting Monday Nov. 3, 2025, through March 2, 2026, for maintenance during the winter season.

Visitors seeking nearby boating access can use Hamilton Creek Park, operated by Metro Parks, or Four Corners Resort and Marina, located southeast of Smith Springs Recreation Area.

The most recent appropriations for the Department of War expired at 11:59 p.m. EST on September 30, 2025. Military personnel will continue in a normal duty status without pay until such time as a continuing resolution or appropriations are passed by Congress and signed into law. Civilian personnel not engaged in exempted or excepted activities will be placed in a non-work, non-pay status.
