    CELINA, Tenn. (June 16, 2023) – The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Nashville District announces the temporary closure of Dale Hollow Damsite Campground in Celina, Tennessee, starting Friday, June 16, 2023. The closure will last for at least two weeks due to the severe tree damage caused by a recent storm.

    NASHVILLE, Tenn. (June 16, 2023) – Lt. Col. Robert W. Green took command of the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Nashville District today during a change of command ceremony at the Tennessee National Guard Armory. He becomes the 68th commander of the “twin rivers” district, commonly referred to as the jewel of the Great Lakes and Ohio River Division.

  • Is Union City Dam broken? The dry bed reservoir functions just right

    By definition, a dam is “a barrier preventing the flow of water or of loose solid materials such as soil or snow”…so why does Union City Dam sometimes look like there’s no water in it? That contradiction is by design: Union City Dam is the only “dry” reservoir in the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Pittsburgh District.
  • Tailwater Construction Wrapping-Up

    The construction work that has been taking place over the past few years at Salamonie Lake is in its final stages of completion. This work was performed to prevent further erosion in the retreat channel and to build a service road for future maintenance needs. The service road will not be open to the public for vehicular traffic, although it will be open for pedestrian & bicyle traffic. The public will be able to access the road from the Salamonie State Forest parking area at Homney Ridge and roadside parking where allowed. The new staircase on the East side will provide a safer path down from the parking lot of the tailwater recreation area.

The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Nashville District recognized his achievement by selecting him as employee of the month for April 2023.
