  • USACE awards Brandon Road Interbasin Project design services

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers awarded a Single Award Task Order Contract (SATOC) to obtain critical design, engineering, and analytical services to advance the Brandon Road Interbasin Project (BRIP). Black & Veatch-Stantec BRIP JV, of Overland Park, Kansas, was awarded the contract on April 23, for architect-engineer services to support the project.
  • Stay alert on Corps lakes and rivers this summer

    NASHVILLE, Tenn. (May 21, 2026) – As summer recreation kicks off over the Memorial Day weekend across the Cumberland River Basin, officials with the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Nashville District are urging visitors to wear life jackets and stay safe recreating on the region’s lakes and rivers.
  • Soo Locks airspace restrictions remain active, violations subject to enforcement

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Detroit District reminds the public that the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) has designated the airspace over the Soo Locks in Sault Ste. Marie, Michigan as restricted airspace. Under Title 14 Code of Federal Regulations (CFR) §99.7, unauthorized drone operations over the Soo Locks are prohibited due to national security, defense, and public safety concerns. The FAA issued a Special Security Instruction (SSI) to help protect the Soo Locks and surrounding critical infrastructure. See figure 1.
  • Center Hill Dam road closure scheduled for May 28

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Nashville District is closing State Highway 141/96 at Center Hill Dam on Thursday, May 28, from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. to allow crews to safely move heavy equipment for spillway gate replacements. The closure facilitates the ongoing rehabilitation of spillway gates to upgrade flood risk and water management infrastructure within the Cumberland River Basin.
  • USACE Chicago District reopens Lockport Lock on schedule following critical construction and maintenance

    Effective May 19, 2026, Lockport Lock has fully reopened to navigation traffic after a temporary closure that began March 31 to complete essential infrastructure repairs and maintenance activities.

    NASHVILLE, Tenn. (May. 20, 2026) – The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Nashville District announces that officials recertified Willow Grove Resort & Marina and Sunset Marina and Resort as “Clean Marinas” last week at Dale Hollow Lake.

  • Corps of Engineers Awards $14.9M Contract to Repair Oswego Breakwaters

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Buffalo District awarded a $14.9 million contract on April 30 to Michigan-based Dean Marine and Excavating for repairs to the Oswego Harbor West and East breakwaters, with plans to start construction this summer. This award advances a broader mission to strengthen and modernize breakwater infrastructure in Oswego Harbor with more than $50 million of federally funded and planned coastal resilience improvements, ensuring more than $28 million in annual business revenue and labor income for the Great Lakes region and the nation.
