Following an internship with the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Jennifer Linebaugh knew she had to come back and work in a role that she found fulfilling.

With a dedication to care for the environment and a desire to make a difference, Jennifer's determination to return to USACE has placed her with the Buffalo District and a position where she is doing more and making that difference.

Jennifer spoke with us about her new role and what she enjoys the most.

Q: Where are you from?

Jennifer:
I’m from Boardman, Ohio, which is just south of Youngstown.

Q: What academic program did you study at your university/college?

Jennifer: I received my Bachelor of Science degree in 2015 from Youngstown State University, where I majored in Environmental Studies and minored in Biology.

Q: How did you find out about the position with USACE?

Jennifer: I closely monitored USAJobs.gov for this position for quite some time. I completed a pathways internship as a Natural Resources Student Trainee with the Corps of Engineers in 2015, and it has been a long-time goal for me to come back permanently.

Q: What motivated you to take the position with the Buffalo District?

Jennifer: I care deeply for the environment, and I greatly enjoy assisting the public, whether it be answering technical questions or helping someone achieve their goal through the appropriate permitting pathways. I believed that through this position, I would be able to make a difference for the environment and facilitate positive interactions with individuals through technical assistance; I can see from my past 3 months at the Corps that both of these things are achievable within this position. Also, I really enjoy reviewing permits and being in the field!

Q: What are your goals in your new position?

Jennifer: I want to learn and absorb as much as I can, which in turn will aid me in providing the public with the best service I can offer.

Q: Anything else you’d like to add?

Jennifer: I’m just so grateful and thrilled to be here, and thankful to everyone who has assisted me thus far. Everyone has been incredibly supportive and made this an easy transition to a new workplace!
