NASHVILLE, Tenn. (April 2, 2024) – The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Nashville District has named Facility Specialist Mike Bostic its employee of the month for December 2023 for his diligent efforts to maintain equipment and facilities at the Nashville District Headquarters in Nashville, Tennessee.

Bostic has been with the district for six months, but has already distinguished himself by tackling several problems head-on and solving emerging issues during the cold central Tennessee winter.

Lt. Col. Robert W. Green, Nashville District commander, said Bostic works diligently with the Government Services Administration, which owns all federal facilities, to ensure employees are

satisfied and that facilities issues are resolved in a timely manner.

“During the months of November and December, we had extreme fluctuations in temperature in the building,” said Green. “Twice a day, Mr. Bostic could be seen doing a walkthrough on all floors, checking temperatures to ensure the climate was suitable for his customers.”

Green said that Bostic even contacted GSA on many occasions to bring portable heaters to exceptionally frigid sections within the building.

Bostic also arranged for refrigerators on all three floors of the district headquarters to be serviced by an outside contractor, and completed two office buildouts on the fifth floor while ensuring the FY23 funds for the customer were accrued and obligated to use when the buildout was completed.

The district commander also emphasized Bostic’s efforts to keep both leadership and district employees informed of building issues or closures, calling it “exceptional.”

“Mike’s hard work, positive attitude, and commitment to our organization’s success were integral in keeping our facility running and our employees as comfortable as possible,” said Green.
Bostic, a native Tennessean, is a retired veteran of the Tennessee National Guard who wanted to continue serving his state and country. This led him to join USACE.

“The people here have been great and very welcoming,” said Bostic. “When you put your feet on the floor first thing every morning and you enjoy where you work and what you are doing, it is very easy to do a job every day.”
