PITTSBURGH -- The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Pittsburgh District has announced the availability of a leasing opportunity for Woodcock Lake Park. Interested parties can apply for a long-term lease to manage the 277-acre recreational area, which boasts a range of facilities including a campground, boat launch, beach, and picnic areas.
This Notice of Availability (NOA) initiates a formal process to transfer management responsibilities of the park. Prospective lessees have until April 22, 2024, to submit their applications. The lease offers a unique opportunity for entrepreneurs to earn a profit while contributing significantly to the community.

Proposals for upgrades and development are encouraged, particularly for campsites, the swim beach, restrooms, showers, and playgrounds. Potential additional developments may encompass a marina, dog park, disc golf course, concession stands, picnic shelters, courtesy docks, boat rentals, environmental learning centers, and other recreational activities.
Woodcock Creek Lake, a popular destination with over 169,000 annual visitors, features attractions including an 18-hole disc golf course, hiking trails, and prime fishing spots. The Corps is actively enhancing the park, including upgrades to the Bossard Nature Center, new interpretive displays, and improvements to the lake’s surrounding infrastructure.

Woodcock Creek Lake is among 16 multi-purpose flood-control reservoirs in the Pittsburgh District, operational since 1973. The dam has been instrumental in preventing over $38 million in flood damages within the French Creek system. It also contributes to flood control, water quality, low-flow augmentation, and recreational opportunities.
The Pittsburgh District spans 26,000 square miles across parts of western Pennsylvania, northern West Virginia, eastern Ohio, western Maryland, and southwestern New York. The district manages over 328 miles of navigable waterways, 23 navigation locks and dams, 16 multi-purpose reservoirs, 42 local flood-protection projects, and more, all dedicated to safeguarding and enhancing the nation's water resources and environment.
