The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Buffalo District closed out fiscal year 2021 executing a $205 million program.

The Corps of Engineers seeks to maximizes opportunities for small businesses to participate in projects and, in turn, for small businesses to help USACE strengthen and vitalize the nation’s economy.

The Buffalo District is responsible for an area of 38,000 square miles, including 16 commercial and 19 recreational harbors, 110 miles of federal navigation channels and 1,683 miles of shoreline along the Great Lakes and St. Lawrence River. The district maintains 38 miles of piers breakwaters and jetties, and operates the Mount Morris Dam and Visitor Center and the Black Rock Lock in Buffalo.

The Buffalo District serves as the Lead Radiological Waste Design Center for USACE's Great Lakes and Ohio River Division, based in Cincinnati, Ohio. It is the Designated Regional Sediment Management District for the Great Lakes and is a member of the International Niagara Board of Control.

The district delivers vital engineering services through flood and coastal storm risk management, navigation, aquatic ecosystem restoration, regulatory, emergency management, recreation, and interagency support services.
