Operational Changes to Riffle Run Campground, Burnsville Lake

HUNTINGTON, W.Va. – Changes will be made to the operational procedures for Riffle Run Campground at Burnsville Lake. The campground will be implementing a reservation system known as recreation.gov, allowing customers to make advanced reservations for peak season dates. The traditional first come first serve procedure will remain as is for non-peak season dates. The reservation system will only accept credit/debit cards.

Nonpeak Seasons - From April 14, 2023, until May 24, 2023, and from September 4, 2023, through November 26, 2023, the campground will operate on the traditional first come, first serve basis.  The Campground Volunteer Host will register campers utilizing the recreation.gov reservation system (credit/debit cards only). 

Peak Season - From May 25, 2023, until September 3, 2023, advanced reservations may be made through recreation.gov by calling 877-444-6777, on the internet at www.recreation.gov., or via walk-up at the Riffle Run entrance station. Sites may be reserved up-to 4 days in advance of your arrival date. Sites will be released for reserving at 10 am, eastern standard time (EDT), 4 days prior to each available overnight date. For example, if you want to arrive on Friday at check in, the earliest you may reserve an available site is on Monday starting at 10 am. Campsites may be reserved up to 14 consecutive nights, not to exceed a 14-night total within any rolling 30-day period. 

All rules and regulations governing the public use of Burnsville Lake shall apply which includes Title 36 Chapter III part 327, Family Camping Rules, and recreation.gov.
