Harlan Flood Control Project dedicated 20 years ago
Water from the Clover Fork River, tributary of the Cumberland River, flows through the Harlan Tunnels in Harlan, Ky., May 25, 2011. The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Nashville District diverted the waterway through the tunnels and around the Harlan Business District Sept. 21, 1992 as part of phase one of the Harlan Flood Control Project. Officials dedicated the overall completion of the project Oct. 25, 1999.
