Lt. Col. Daniel Tabacchi comes to the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Pittsburgh District following an assignment as the Brigade Executive Officer, 173rd Infantry Brigade Combat Team (Airborne) in Vicenza, Italy.
He is an Army ‘brat’ and had the privilege of living throughout the U.S. and Europe while growing up. He is married with two children, and they are happy to be a part of the USACE family.
Lt. Col. Tabacchi holds a Bachelor of Science Degree in Mining Engineering and a Master of Science Degree in Explosives Engineering from the Missouri University of Science and Technology. He also holds a Master of Arts Degree in Military Operations from the schools of Advanced Military Studies. He is a graduate of the U.S. Army Command and General Staff College, the Engineer Captain’s Career Course, the Engineer Officer Basic Course and is a registered Professional Engineer in the state of Missouri.

Tabacchi’s previous assignments include Platoon Leader and Executive Officer, Alpha Company, 173rd Special Troops Battalion (Airborne) Bamberg, Germany; Aide de Camp to the U.S. Army Engineer School Commandant, Fort Leonard Wood, Missouri; Commander, 576th Engineer Company, Commander, Headquarters and Headquarters Company, 4th Engineer Battalion, Fort Carson, Colorado; Observer Coach Trainer, the National Training Center, Fort Irwin, California; Future Operations Planner, United States Army- Africa, Vicenza, Italy; Battalion S3 and XO, 54th Brigade Engineer Battalion (Airborne), and Brigade Executive Officer, 173rd Infantry Brigade Combat Team (Airborne), Vicenza, Italy.
His awards and decorations include the Bronze Star Medal, the Purple Heart, the Meritorious Service Medal, the Army Commendation Medal, the Army Achievement Medal, the Ranger and Sapper tabs, and the Senior Parachutist, Pathfinder, and Combat Action badges.
