Corps of Engineers begins multi-phased improvements to Lexington Harbor 

The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE), Detroit District, will begin a multi-phase project in Lexington Harbor, Michigan with the first phase involving dredging and breakwater revitalization work set to start as early as May 28, weather permitting. Phase One will focus on hydraulic dredging of the outer harbor. The contractor will then mechanically dredge to address shoaling impacting harbor access and the inner federal channel and to re-establish recreational boating access to the inner harbor.

USACE marks completion of the Indiana Harbor Confined Disposal Facility Dike Raise Construction Project

Today, the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) Chicago District, Rep. Frank J. Mrvan (IN-1), and Fernando Trevino, Executive Director of the East Chicago Waterways Management District, marked the completion of the Dike Raise construction project at the Indiana Harbor Confined Disposal Facility.

Algoma Intrepid visits Manitowoc Harbor

The largest vessel in the last 20 years visited Manitowoc Harbor in late April. The Algoma Intrepid a 650-foot bulk freighter brought grain into the harbor to deliver to Briess Malt. Reestablishing the ability to bring in raw materials through the harbor allows Briess to meet the growing demand for craft beer and food.

Safety is paramount in district dredging operations
