    Park rangers respond to drownings by promoting water safety

    NASHVILLE, Tenn. (June 29, 2023) – Park rangers in Tennessee and Kentucky are stepping up efforts to promote water safety in lieu of 10 tragic drownings already this recreation season at Corps lakes in the Cumberland River Basin.

    Percy Priest superheroes tool around for recreation

    NASHVILLE, Tenn. (May 5, 2023) – A team of superheroes at J. Percy Priest Lake are known for tooling around campgrounds and recreation areas while repairing and maintaining facilities, often saving the day by unclogging a restroom sink, fixing a leaky water line, or restoring power at a campsite.

    Tennessee medical personnel participate in waterborne massive causality exercise at J. Percy Priest Lake

    SMYRNA, Tenn. (June 13, 2022) — Personnel from Ascension Medical Group Saint Thomas conducted multiple mass casualty triage and evacuation incidents at Fate Sanders Marina on J. Percy Priest Lake in Smyrna, Tennessee. The purpose of the exercise was to educate and field test interns in a waterborne reenactment exercise which simulated what a catastrophic boating accident with several victims would entail.

    Water Management assesses water quality in Cumberland River Basin

    NASHVILLE, Tenn. (May 5, 2021) – The Water Quality Team, a component of the Water Management Section within the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Nashville District, routinely collects water quality information at the 10 reservoir projects in the Cumberland River Basin.

    Region recognizes J. Percy Priest project on its 50th birthday

    NASHVILLE, Tenn. (June 29, 2018) – Community leaders and citizens celebrated the 50th Anniversary of J. Percy Priest Dam and Reservoir today, acknowledging the project’s positive impact on the region since President Lyndon B. Johnson dedicated it as a perfect example of the new conservation 50 years ago.
