    Sections of bio acoustic fish fence submerged at Barkley Lock

    GRAND RIVERS, Ky. (Oct. 9, 2019) – Crews are submerging and installing sections of a bio acoustic fish fence on the downstream side of Barkley Lock this week as part of an experiment to deter the passage of Asian carp with a wall of bubbles, sound and light.

    Judge Shea Nickell, Kentucky Court of Appeals, presents a framed historical portrait of Vice President Alben Barkley, the namesake of Barkley Dam, to Mike Looney, Lake Barkley Resource manager, to be hung in the lake’s visitor’s center where it can be seen by future generations in memory of the vice president.     GRAND RIVERS, Ky. (Aug. 20, 2016) – Barkley Dam, a symbol of progress in western Kentucky, turned 50 today with fanfare, remembrances and special tributes during a commemoration ceremony at the Badgett Playhouse Theater and reception at the community center.
