Dredging starts on Sandy-relief-funded contracts for Burns Small Boat, Michigan City harbors

Hydraulic dredging of approximately 45,000 cubic yards at Michigan City Harbor in Michigan City, Ind., began Sept. 6, 2013. Hydraulic dredging of approximately 25,000 cubic yards will be dredged at Burns Small Boat Harbor in Portage, Ind., beginning in a few weeks. A contract was awarded in the amount of $551,500 July 15, 2013 for these operations.

The most recent appropriations for the Department of War expired at 11:59 p.m. EST on September 30, 2025. Military personnel will continue in a normal duty status without pay until such time as a continuing resolution or appropriations are passed by Congress and signed into law. Civilian personnel not engaged in exempted or excepted activities will be placed in a non-work, non-pay status.
