Published Aug. 1, 2025

The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Louisville District will be conducting dam maintenance activities at Barren River Lake in Glasgow, Kentucky, which could impact public access to the tailwater areas. These activities are tentatively scheduled to begin Aug. 10 and last through Aug. 17, 2025.

During this time, USACE staff will be onsite to dewater and inspect the stilling basin as part of routine maintenance activities. During the inspection, Barren dam will be limited to the minimum discharge of 50 cubic feet per second (cfs). Throughout the duration of this work, the stilling basin/tailwater parking lot will be closed. However, the tailwater campground will remain open.

The times and duration of these activities are subject to change based on weather conditions and other factors. Any questions concerning the upcoming work can be directed to the Barren River Lake Office at (270) 646-2055.
