Summersville Lake Drawdown to begin

Huntington District
Published Nov. 18, 2024

SUMMERSVILLE, W.Va. - The Huntington District of the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers announces Summersville Lake will begin drawing down in order to perform maintenance on the dam November 18, 2024.

There will be no boat launching facilities available for the public after November 17th until work is complete and the lake is returned to normal winter pool.

The work being conducted on the dam is projected to start on December 2nd. To prevent harm to fish populations in the lake at these low levels, outflow is limited to lower levels which can make it difficult to maintain the proper lake elevation necessary. With proper weather conditions permitting acceptable lake levels, the Huntington District is expecting the work will be completed before the end of January.
