USACE announces public review period for Buckhorn Lake Master Plan

LOUISVILLE, Ky. --

The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers has updated its 1972 Master Plan for Buckhorn Lake located in Buckhorn, Kentucky.

A Master Plan is the document that conceptually establishes and guides the orderly development, administration, maintenance, preservation, enhancement, and management of all natural, cultural, and recreational resources of a Corps water resource project.

The final draft Master Plan and Environmental Assessment for Buckhorn Lake is available for public review at: https://usace.contentdm.oclc.org/utils/getfile/collection/p16021coll7/id/23339.

Comments and questions can be submitted by email to buckhorn.masterplan@usace.army.mil. The public comment period will be open until March 24, 2023.

Master Plan Update

The most recent appropriations for the Department of War expired at 11:59 p.m. EST on September 30, 2025. Military personnel will continue in a normal duty status without pay until such time as a continuing resolution or appropriations are passed by Congress and signed into law. Civilian personnel not engaged in exempted or excepted activities will be placed in a non-work, non-pay status.
