Military personnel will continue in a normal duty status without pay until such time as a continuing resolution or appropriations are passed by Congress and signed into law. Civilian personnel not engaged in exempted or excepted activities will be placed in a non-work, non-pay status.

Visitors are welcome into the Soo Locks facility and across the MacArthur Lock from 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., Friday, June 27. Engineers Day honors the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers’ June 16, 1775, birthday. The Corps of Engineers is proud to celebrate 250 years of service to the nation. Since the beginning, the Corps of Engineers has been at the forefront of engineering excellence, responding to the nation’s most complex challenges with unmatched expertise and dedication.

  • West Fork Lake (Winton Woods) could potentially reach spillway pool elevation following significant rainfall

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Louisville District is actively monitoring this week’s forecasted heavy rainfall and preparing for potential wide-spread moderate to major flooding throughout portions of Kentucky, Indiana, and Ohio. Cumulative rainfalls totals for this event may range from 2-15+ inches resulting in elevated lake levels at the district’s Flood Risk Management (FRM) reservoirs and wide-spread moderate to major flooding on most of the rivers within the district’s footprint. Based on current data, the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Louisville District is forecasting that West Fork Lake, known locally as Winton Woods Lake, near Cincinnati, Ohio, could potentially reach its spillway pool of 702 feet National Geodetic Vertical Datum of 1929 (NGVD29) on Sunday, April 6, 2025. Current forecasts show that the pool could reach anywhere between 699 and 705 NAVG29. The dam is operating as designed and there are no dam safety concerns.

  • USACE Ready to Deliver Critical Repairs to Oswego Harbor Outer West Breakwater

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE), Buffalo District awarded a $9.1 million contract to Michigan-based Great Lakes Dock and materials for repairs to the Oswego Harbor outer west breakwater, with plans to start this spring. The breakwater foundation has been significantly damaged by storms, wave action, and deterioration for more than 90 years. Repairs will ensure continued safe navigation for commercial and recreational vessels between Lake Ontario and the rest of the Great Lakes, directly contributing to the nation’s economy.

  • Greenup Auxiliary Lock Closure Update

    The Huntington District, U.S. Army Corps of Engineers announces that the auxiliary chamber at the Greenup Locks and Dam on the Ohio River in Greenup, Ky. will no longer be closed to recreational traffic. Recreational traffic can now use the auxiliary chamber for passage. Fishing tournament sponsors must coordinate directly with the lockmaster prior to their event for special instructions.
