Task Force Power’s husband, wife team deliver ‘inseparable’ disaster support

Evan and Leah Morgan have been inseparable since 2010, their freshman year at Marshall University, Huntington, West Virginia. The husband and wife team from Huntington District, U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, knew they wanted to support the recovery mission in Puerto Rico. The only consideration was timing: would the stars align so this couple could deploy together? The answer came on Nov. 14, when Leah, a district contract purchasing agent, deployed to Puerto Rico to support the Task Force Power Restoration mission. Evan, a civil engineer, wouldn’t join her until Dec. 22.

Philip R. Tilly, a program manager with the Great Lakes and Ohio River Division, U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, was making final plans in September for a promised road trip he and his wife, Jeanne, of 35 years, would take to Acadia National Park in Maine, and a week-long retreat to Hocking Hills in southeastern Ohio.

USACE Task Force Temporary Emergency Power team powers down in Texas

68 facilities requested power assistance from Corpus Christi all the way to Beaumont. “45 facilities received generators to power buildings, lift stations, pump stations and other similar facilities,” said Action Officer Matthew R. Slezak. Overall 66 facilities were assessed with 21 not being required and closed, and two canceled with power being restored prior to USACE assessment.

The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) began flood fight operations throughout the Central U.S., along the Mississippi and tributary rivers, in response to heavy rainfall on April 28-30 . High water flows are impacting navigation and stressing federal and non-federal levee systems.

Former U.S. Army 10th Mountain soldiers now leading the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Great Lakes region

COL Drew, LTC Czekanski, and LTC Sugrue each wear the unit patch of the 10th Mountain Division on the right arm of their uniform, signifying their time with the Division during tours of duty in combat. It is symbol of their commitment to protect our Nation in a time of war, a commitment they continue today serving with the Corps of Engineers during a time of peace.

Barkley Dam brought hope to region 50 years ago
