Louisville Veterans Administration Medical Center project team recognizes Construction Safety Week

Personnel from the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Louisville District, the new Louisville VA Medical Center, and the Walsh-Turner Joint Venture II came together May 2 to kick off a week of events in recognition of Construction Safety Week. This year’s theme is “Connected. Supported. Safe,” and it seemed fitting as speakers from the various organizations involved in the building of the new Louisville VA Medical Center addressed the crowd about the importance of safety and teamwork.

Soo Locks Visitor Center opens for 2022 season

SAULT STE. MARIE, Mich., – The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers is opening the Soo Locks Visitor Center in Canal Park at 10 a.m. May 8. Visitor Center hours for the month of May are 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., closed on Wednesdays and Thursdays. Visitor Center hours and days for June will be re-evaluated and announced prior to Memorial Day. “We are excited to open the Visitor Center after a long winter,” Chief Park Ranger Michelle Briggs said. “This year, in addition to updated exhibits, we have a new water safety program with goody bags we hope all will enjoy.”

Final structural component of the Canandaigua VA Medical Center Phase 2 Project placed

The construction of the Canandaigua VA Medical Center Phase 2 project reached another major milestone today when the final structural beam was placed atop the Community Center Building (Bldg. #62) by the project team. Phase 2 of the project was awarded for $176.2 million to Pike Co. and Hueber-Breuer Construction Joint Venture and includes demolition of Buildings #33 and #34 to support construction of a 96 bed Community Living Center complex, Community Center Building and Building N Loading Dock, in addition to renovations to Building #3 and #9 to support the Phase 1 Outpatient Clinic.

NR 22-11: Cheatham Lock undergoing series of navigation closures
