Pittsburgh District Dive Team
Josh Lesch, a diver with the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Pittsburgh District, performs a periodic inspection at Locks and Dam 4 on the Monongahela River in Belle Vernon, Pennsylvania, May 25, 2021. The Pittsburgh District Dive Team is responsible for inspecting locks and dams on the Monongahela, Allegheny and Ohio rivers. The team also inspect reservoirs and respond to emergencies, such as debris impeding locking operations. The diver team is made up of 15 members who volunteer as collateral duty. The most recent appropriations for the Department of War expired at 11:59 p.m. EST on September 30, 2025. Military personnel will continue in a normal duty status without pay until such time as a continuing resolution or appropriations are passed by Congress and signed into law. Civilian personnel not engaged in exempted or excepted activities will be placed in a non-work, non-pay status.
