TCF Center in Detroit
Colonel Paul J. Kremer Deputy Division Commander, Great Lakes and Ohio River Division USACE discusses assessment details March 28, 2020 at the TCF Center in Detroit. Kremer along with, the Detroit District USACE field assessment team, U.S. Army National Guard and other federal and state agencies began evaluating the location for conversion into an alternate care facility. Detroit District USACE also announced on Saturday it has received a verbal mission assignment from the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) to construct a large alternate care facility in downtown Detroit.

The most recent appropriations for the Department of War expired at 11:59 p.m. EST on September 30, 2025. Military personnel will continue in a normal duty status without pay until such time as a continuing resolution or appropriations are passed by Congress and signed into law. Civilian personnel not engaged in exempted or excepted activities will be placed in a non-work, non-pay status.
