First visit to Chicago District for new commanding general of Great Lakes and Ohio River Division

The general’s tour of Chicago District projects, potential projects and sites included Indiana Harbor and Canal confined disposal facility, Bubbly Creek in Chicago, the Asian-Carp electric dispersal barrier, the Metropolitan Water Reclamation District of Greater Chicago’s mainstream pumping station, the McCook Reservoir phase one and two, Northerly Island in Chicago, the Chicago Harbor and Lock, and the Department of Veterans Affairs Hospital in Hines, Illinois. The most recent appropriations for the Department of War expired at 11:59 p.m. EST on September 30, 2025. Military personnel will continue in a normal duty status without pay until such time as a continuing resolution or appropriations are passed by Congress and signed into law. Civilian personnel not engaged in exempted or excepted activities will be placed in a non-work, non-pay status.
