The most recent appropriations for the Department of War expired at 11:59 p.m. EST on September 30, 2025. Military personnel will continue in a normal duty status without pay until such time as a continuing resolution or appropriations are passed by Congress and signed into law. Civilian personnel not engaged in exempted or excepted activities will be placed in a non-work, non-pay status.

Engineers from USACE Huntington District had a site visit to Atwood Lake to assess any issues with the spillway and what work needs to be done to fix those issues.

Engineers from USACE Huntington District had a site visit to Atwood Lake to assess any issues with the spillway and what work needs to be done to fix those issues.

Engineers from USACE Huntington District had a site visit to Atwood Lake to assess any issues with the spillway and what work needs to be done to fix those issues.

The site visit to the spillway built in 1936 is just first step in the process to repair any damages.

“Next we (Design Branch) will work with construction to develop the plans and specs to submit for review,” said Chris Wood, structural engineer at the Huntington District.

Once the review has been approved, the final step before beginning the work to upgrade the spillway is waiting for the funding needed to complete the project.
